The 2007 Clos Pepe Estate Pinot Noir 'Vigneron Select' is a wine chosen and blended by 'Vigneron' Steve Pepe and the rest of our winemaking team as a 'friends and family' style reserve wine. A blend of our favorite barrels from each of the clonal selections (667, 115 and 777), the wine shows a little extra French Oak in its youth and is always a fantastic candidate for a long rest in the cellar.
The 2007 'VS' is a 72 case production and is always highly allocated--we suggest you get your order in as soon as possible to guarantee availability. The wine is right at 14% alcohol, very dark and rich in its youth. We expect the baby fat to fall off this bright and fruity young wine in about 2010 and start showing its minerally underbelly. 2007 is certainly a special, long growing season for us with small yields and the longest hangtime in our history on the property. It's always difficult to imagine how these wines with mature, but I have great faith this will be one of the finest wines we've made. Expect youthful and vibrant fruit in its youth, and long, complex and earthy flavors in its maturity.
